UV Lighting & Mounting Set

The VHX digital microscope series from KEYENCE impresses with powerful image processing capabilities. However, when it comes to UV-fluorescent materials or security prints, the integrated white-light LEDs of the objectives quickly reach their limits.

For precisely such applications, Falcon has developed ultra-flat UV ring lights in various sizes, specifically designed for the short working distance between the objective and the specimen. The nearly horizontal light incidence ensures that even centrally located structures are reliably illuminated.

To allow flexible positioning of the lighting in laboratory environments, a universal mounting set was developed that is specially designed to fit our Falcon ring lights. In fluorescence-based imaging, a bandpass filter is typically used to make only the relevant wavelengths visible in the camera image while suppressing stray light.

Since the objectives from Keyence – unlike classic C-mount optics – do not have a filter thread, our adapter is equipped with an integrated filter holder.

The mounting set is not limited to UV ring lights. It can also be combined with lighting in other wavelength ranges – for example, infrared LEDs with a suitable IR bandpass filter or visible-spectrum LEDs combined with a polarization filter to eliminate reflections on shiny surfaces.

Typical UV applications:

Inspection of adhesive application, invisible codes, material differentiation, as well as testing of seals and coatings.
